As our community may have seen, the parking lots of Glenn Westlake and Manor Hill are currently under a great deal of construction. This is part of the district’s commitment to improving traffic flow, parking congestion and stormwater management at both schools, which will lead to greater safety for our students, staff, parents and community members.
The project will be complete in the coming weeks. The end result will be a more efficient traffic pattern for families, additional parking spaces and a significant improvement to stormwater management to mitigate flooding issues in the area.
This construction follows a community forum that was hosted in the spring at Glenn Westlake Middle School. The district issued personal invitations to more than 200 neighbors in the surrounding area as well as invited all District 44 families. Please click here for that previous communication.
During the forum, the district discussed the parking lot and traffic improvements as well as shared more information about the district’s long-term need to add additional space at Glenn Westlake.
Once the district has completed this first phase of construction focused on parking and roadway improvements, we will be communicating and involving our community in our long-term plans for Glenn Westlake Middle School.
